KARVONEN FILMS LTD (KF) is an independent Canadian production company specializing in natural history films. Since 1976, KF crews have travelled throughout North America and the world, capturing on film an impressive array of wild animals and special wilderness areas. Our mission is to produce world-class programming that accurately represents our natural world while encouraging environmental awareness and preservation.

Founded in 1976 by Albert Karvonen and his wife Pirkko, KF has produced over 110 films with over 2 million feet of film in its stock footage library, plus a large collection of sounds and stills. Our films are broadcast on channels like The Discovery Channel (Canada), ACCESS, SCN and Canal D, as well as distributed internationally. With a keen eye for authenticity and biological accuracy, the KF team has accumulated numerous international and Canadian nominations and awards.

In addition to its television and home video products, KF markets a rapidly expanding library of motion pictures, stills and sounds from around the world. Our programs easily translate into foreign languages and are enjoyed by a worldwide audience in over 100 countries. The company name is well established in the international marketplace with representation at most major television markets and festivals.

After 32 years in production, Karvonen Films will be closing its doors at the end of 2008. Albert and Pirkko Karvonen are looking forward to their retirement, travelling the world and relaxing at their lakeside home on beautiful Amisk Lake, Alberta.
