Bison: Beyond the Great River

Beyond the great Mackenzie River in northern Canada, the shaggy wood bison has made a comeback.

In spring, calves play while the bugles of sandhill cranes ring throughout this northern land. During the short summer, belligerent bulls gore each other in mating battles that shake the earth. Insects torment the herd, while large packs of wolves lurk in the shadows. When winter comes, the wolves become even more dangerous.
